Objective
- 3 avenues are considered: faculty R&D ? which is the traditional source of formation of interdisciplinary centres, RuTAG-Rural Technologies Action Group ? which has already been working at IIT Madras for a long time now, and a number of startups under IIT Madras incubation, specifically the Rural Technology Business Incubator (RTBI).
Description
- IIT Madras is developing a Centre for Precision Agriculture Technologies driven through three avenues ? faculty R&D encompassing drones for pesticide spraying, hyper-spectral imaging, and biomethanation; RuTAG innovations including small-scale paddy threshers and household mini-oilers; and startup incubations such as Stellapps for dairy technology and Aibono for smart farming. Together, these efforts strengthen sustainable farming, improve rural livelihoods, and accelerate scalable, India-suited solutions ? offering CSR partners a critical role in driving high-impact agricultural transformation.
