Hyundai and IIT Madras Partner to Establish Hydrogen Innovation Centre

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has begun work on a ₹100 crore Hydrogen Innovation Centre at the Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave 2024 in Chennai. The virtual ground-breaking was led by CM Thiru M.K. Stalin, with participation from Mr. Gopalakrishnan C.S., Whole-time Director at HMIL, and officials from Guidance Tamil Nadu. Developed in collaboration with IIT Madras, the 65,000 sq. ft. facility will focus on hydrogen production, fuel cell research, and innovation. Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, emphasized its role in fostering startups. The center is set to be operational by 2026.

Lab Grown Diamonds

Lab Grown Diamonds

IIT Madras has been awarded a five-year research grant of ₹242 crores for research on Lab Grown Diamonds. This research will be focused on driving indigenization of the LGD manufacturing process. The union minister for Finance, Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, announced the research grant while presenting the Union Budget 2023 on 1st February 2023.
