- This IIT Madras initiative translates cutting-edge, indigenously developed medical imaging technologies ? spanning ultrasound, X-ray, photoacoustic, optical, and electromagnetic modalities ? into four fully functional prototype imaging systems with a complete software suite and an open-platform clinical MRI. As a one-of-a-kind imaging centre in India, the project delivers advanced yet affordable scanners, reducing costs and expanding access to high-quality medical imaging, creating significant social impact and strengthening India's healthcare innovation ecosystem.
