- By 2050, over 320 million Indians will be above 60, shifting the focus from extending lifespan to improving health span ? years lived in good physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This IIT Madras mission-oriented Centre of Excellence advances healthy ageing through microbiome-brain axis research, phage-probiotic strategies against antibiotic resistance, psychosocial resilience, and scientific validation of traditional-modern synergies ? generating improved clinical parameters, validated wellness practices, and policy frameworks to integrate holistic wellness into national ageing programs.
