Energy Storage Facility for Data Centre - PG Senapathy Centre for Computing Resources

Proposal for infrastructure development - Energy Storage facility for data centre (PG Senapathy Centre for Computing Resources)

Proposal for infrastructure development - Energy Storage facility for data centre (PG Senapathy Centre for Computing Resources)

Principal Investigator

Prof. Gandham Phanikumar

Objective

  • The existing capacity of 650 kVA with about 30 minutes of back up time is to be supported by the UPS systems with necessary battery storages. A separate room to host these energy storage systems will be required.

Description

  • The data centre in the computer centre was set up about 20 years ago. Currently, the data centre powers 1100 kVA of capacity for IT load and cooling systems. The legacy facility is supported by a UPS system that needs upgradation of the battery packs to Lithium Ion based ones for compact storage with reduced foot print as well as longer life. A physically separate space to host the battery storage systems is necessary to comply with the safety requirements.

Impact

  • The energy storage system will be set up and commissioned for integration with the data centre. The physical space hosting the energy storage system can be named.

Budget in Lakhs

426.00
