- As power reforms demand optimally-priced, universally accessible, and sustainable energy, smart meters play a critical role in facilitating energy conservation, balancing consumption, and minimizing energy loss. This IIT Madras initiative establishes a dedicated Smart Meter Lab advancing R&D on efficient power management from a smart city perspective, strengthening academia-industry collaboration, and supporting the power sector ? including distribution companies and REC ? in accelerating India's data-driven, resilient energy transition.
