Proposal for infrastructure development - Science Visualization Synapse Room (PG Senapathy Centre for Computing Resources)
Principal Investigator
Prof. Gandham Phanikumar
Objective
- A set of 5 graphical workstations connected with the parallel file system over direct fibre optic cables at 10Gbps and placed in the space facing the data centre will serve as the scientific visualization synapse room.
Description
- The computer centre currently hosts Aqua cluster of 1 PetaFlop and ParamShakti facility of 3.1 PetaFlop capability. Apart from these, there are a number of HPC systems such as from the Brain Centre, IoE centres and labs of the institute. Some of the research groups have been taking advantage of the emerging HPC facilities of the institute. Such program codes will generate several hundreds of GB data from the runs on the clusters.
Impact
- Installation and commissioning of the facility, usage statistics of the facility, scientific output of the visualization and analysis of the large data by the researchers as case studies.
