Drone Technologies for environmental monitoring
Principal Investigator
Prof. Manikandan Mathur
Objective
- To design and develop two separate vertical take-off-and-landing unmanned aerial systems(UAS); one for vertical profiling and the other for extended horizontal range., To demonstrate the use of the developed UAS in the domains of environmental monitoring and climate applications., To set up the infrastructure and ecosystem for the design and development of next-generation UAS.
Description
- Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) represent a paradigm-shifting technology in the field of environmental monitoring. In-house design and development of UAS for applications in environmental monitoring will be one of the first-of-its-kind technological demonstrations.
Impact
- Coastal Mapping., Mapping of water resources., Weather and climate monitoring., Meteorology and Oceanography., Highways, railways, and waterways for monitoring applications., Mapping of terrain relevant for construction and mining activities., UAS can be useful in the agriculture industry., Testing and calibration of various satellite payloads., Search and rescue operations.
