CoE for Indian Medicine System with emphasis on Siddha at DMST & Manipur Central University
Principal Investigator
Prof. R Krishna Kumar
Objective
- The Centre will conduct fundamental research to study the mechanisms of action of the most used Herbo-mineral Siddha nanoformulations for non-communicable diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases, Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and Anemia.
Description
- Two of the most ancient medical practices are the Indian and Chinese systems of medicine., Traditional Indian medicine, which has a 2500-year history, shares many similarities with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)., Ayurveda has a stronger institutional presence and support network across India., In this country, there is a glaring absence of a Centre dedicated to fundamental research in the Siddha School of Medicine. Establishing a fundamental research Centre is imperative to bolster and advance translational research in a few Siddha centres, notably the National Institute of Siddha in Chennai.
Impact
- By focusing on the mechanisms of action of Siddha formulations and Varmam techniques, the center will contribute significantly to the understanding and application of Siddha medicine in addressing major health challenges., This initiative will enhance scientific knowledge and pave the way for integrative medicine approaches in healthcare. By making the profound knowledge of the Siddha system accessible to the world, we can ensure its benefits reach a global audience.
