Gait Trainer and Lower Limb Exoskeleton Neurorehabilitation CSR Project

Clinical trials of gait trainer and lower limb exoskeleton for neurological disorder patients

Clinical trials of gait trainer and lower limb exoskeleton for neurological disorder patients

Principal Investigator

Prof. Sourav Rakshit

Objective

  • To study the effect of short-term intensive exoskeleton gait training (EGT) on: gait speed., dynamic balance., lower extremity function.

Description

  • Patients with neurological disorders like stroke, Parkinson's Disease (PD), spinal cord injury (SCI), etc. experience hemiparesis/paraparesis hampering their mobility and activities of daily living (ADL)., Conventional physiotherapy (PT) can achieve high level of improvement in ambulation and motor functions for such patients. However, it requires considerable time and effort on part of physiotherapists, especially in post-acute phase. Thus robotic exoskeletons have recently emerged as the tool of choice for gait training of patients with lower extremity weakness.

Impact

  • Development of a low cost and indigenous gait trainer and lower limb exoskeleton for post stroke hemiparetics, Parkinson's, Paraplegia (post TSCI) patients.

Budget in Lakhs

15.00
