Objective

• Researchers, policymakers, and marketers focus on alleviating poverty and promoting social entrepreneurship among the 4 billion people living in absolute poverty. However, the formal economy often fails to meet their needs, leading to the emergence of informal economies, prevalent in developing nations. These informal economies are characterised by a vulnerable, predominantly female workforce. This study explores why women engage in these economies beyond economic factors and their roles in personal and professional spaces. It also seeks to identify socio-cultural factors affecting women's well-being, ultimately aiding women's labour and optimising corporate CSR activities.
