Description

  • Coir fibres offer a natural alternative to synthetic materials, with strong potential for sound absorption in public spaces such as highways, railway stations, and bus stands. This IIT Madras initiative examines and evaluates treatment methods for coir and rubberised coir to enhance acoustic performance and useful life, while reducing waste and pollution. By creating economic value from coir husk and ceasing agricultural waste burning, the project improves community quality of life through sustainable, India-native materials.
