Center for Medical Imaging Technologies - Preclinical Imaging setup
Principal Investigator
Prof. Arun K. Thittai
Objective
- To build prototypes of fully-functioning high-frequency preclinical ultrasound scanners, micro-CT imaging scanners, and a full suite of software tool sets for basic application studies, The 4.7T MRI will also be customised with complementary imaging information from the three widely used imaging modalities
Description
- This IIT Madras initiative builds fully-functioning prototypes of high-frequency preclinical ultrasound scanners, micro-CT imaging scanners, and a customised 4.7T MRI ? complemented by a full software suite and standard procedures for non-specialist users. By developing affordable, application-specific imaging systems, the project lowers pharmaceutical research and drug development costs, supports rural health camps and early disease screening, and advances accessible MedTech innovation for teaching hospitals and underserved communities across India.
Impact
- Enhance remote healthcare, Organise rural health camps and early disease screening, Develop affordable imaging scanners, Lower pharmaceutical research and drug development costs, Implement the plan based on prototype experience, Develop application-specific scanner software
