Centre for Advanced Semi-Conductor Technologies
Principal Investigator
Prof. HOD - Interdisciplinary Studies
Objective
- The overarching objective is to establish a self-sustaining, industry-integrated ecosystem for advanced power semiconductor devices and systems.
Description
- India stands at a pivotal moment in its energy and technology transition. With national commitments toward Net Zero emissions by 2070 and a reduction of 1 billion tons of carbon emissions by 2030. However, India remains heavily dependent on imports for critical power semiconductor components and systems. There is an urgent need to build an indigenous, end-to-end ecosystem spanning design, fabrication, packaging, testing, system integration, and workforce development.
Impact
- Fully functional chip-to-system user facility., Localization of semiconductor production capability., 5000+ trained professionals annually., Industry-ready technicians, engineers, and managers., Advanced MOSFETs (Si/GaN/SiC) with >5x heat sink reduction., At least 5 startups or new business verticals enabled., Reduced import dependency., Strengthened domestic semiconductor capability.
