Societal Impact via computation
Principal Investigator
Prof. Kameswararao Anupindi
Objective
- To create a world-class computing facility at IIT Madras, Computational facility to be used by research groups to solve problems affecting society, CSR funds to be used to create infrastructure, buy computational equipment, support staff, and maintain the facility
Description
- Solving critical societal challenges ? from drug design and weather prediction to electric vehicles and smart healthcare ? demands large-scale computational power, directly impacting lives in India. This IIT Madras initiative establishes a world-class computing facility, with CSR funds supporting infrastructure, computational equipment, staffing, and maintenance. By enabling advanced simulations and high-performance research, the centre drives high-impact journal publications, patents, and open-source libraries, strengthening IIT Madras's position as a leader in computational research
Impact
- Most of the compute power used would result in the publication of journal papers, Patents for technologies developed, Open source libraries, Long term and indirectly would feed into electric vehicles, drug design, smart healthcare, etc.
