Objective
- To create engaging and accessible video games in which visual elements are translated into audio formats, enabling blind and visually impaired individuals to experience digital gaming in an immersive, interactive way
Description
- With 2.2 billion people globally experiencing vision impairment and traditional video games excluding blind users through visual-only interfaces, advances in spatial audio processing now enable complex game information to be conveyed entirely through sound. This IIT Madras initiative develops engaging, accessible video games translating visual elements into immersive audio formats ? enhancing blind players' social and cognitive engagement, spatial orientation, and auditory discrimination skills, while building a scalable platform for developing new accessible games and educational applications.
