Objective

• This collaboration aims to equip ITI technicians, foundational to the automotive service industry, with essential EV and eMobility skills, including critical safety protocols

Description

• This three-year CSR project ? funded by Renault Nissan India and executed by IIT Madras in partnership with industry ? skills ITI technicians in Electric Vehicle and eMobility technologies with a critical focus on safety. By establishing an operational EV training facility at NSTI Guindy, delivering a robust safety-focused curriculum, and certifying approximately 30 ITI technicians annually, the initiative reduces the EV skill gap, enhances technician employability, improves EV servicing safety, and sets a national benchmark for EV technical training ? contributing to India's clean energy transition.

Impact

• Direct outcomes: Operational EV and e-mobility training facility at NSTI Guindy, robust safety-focused curriculum, skilled NSTI faculty, approximately 30 certified ITI technicians per year, and approximately 10 faculty in other locations based on the FDP, Long-term impact: Reduced EV skill gap, enhanced technician employability, improved EV servicing safety, national benchmark for EV technical training, and contribution to India's clean energy transition
