Objective
- Fund the expansion of the monitored athlete cohort by up to a further 200 athletes, on a system that is already built, deployed and in use, Put the instruments of scientific training into the hands of athletes and coaches who cannot otherwise reach them, Give coaches an objective way to know how much work an athlete has actually done, whether recovery has been adequate, and whether the load is producing adaptation or accumulating fatigue, Address overtraining, chronic fatigue, preventable non-contact injury, erratic progression, and the loss of talented athletes who drop out of competitive sport before they reach their ceiling, Deploy an indigenous cardiac-load and recovery monitoring platform engineered for Indian sporting conditions, price points and scale, serviceable locally and keeping athlete data within the country, Apply funds exclusively to procurement and deployment of the athlete monitoring systems and the associated implementation support, with every unit serial-numbered and mapped to a named beneficiary athlete
Description
- This project equips up to 200 additional grassroots athletes with Enhance, an indigenous cardiac-load and recovery monitoring platform developed at IIT Madras. Each athlete receives a chest-worn ECG sensor and a wrist monitor linked to cloud analytics reporting training load, exercise intensity, heart-rate variability, recovery status, sleep and early indicators of accumulating fatigue, with coach dashboards and onboarding support. It takes the monitored cohort to 250 over two seasons, giving coaches objective data in place of intuition.
Impact
- Up to 200 additional grassroots athletes across multiple sports equipped with continuous, objective training-load and recovery monitoring for two full seasons, taking the monitored cohort to 250, Coaches at every partner centre trained in data-informed periodisation, a capability that remains with the centre after the funding period ends, Measurable reduction in overtraining episodes and non-contact injury across the cohort, benchmarked against baseline, A named, verifiable beneficiary list with device-level traceability, supporting clean reporting and impact assessment, Sensor kits remain with the partner centres and are redeployed to the next intake, so a single contribution serves successive cohorts, and the coaching capability built during the programme is permanent, The anonymised, consented data from a cohort of up to 250 athletes will constitute one of the first normative datasets on training load and recovery in Indian grassroots sport, a public-good research asset curated at IIT Madras
