Objective
- Partner with the Department of Physics, IIT Madras to establish Innovation Labs not only at Rural Interaction Centres established by IIT Madras but also within government schools, Empower students in both rural and under-resourced government school settings by enriching their learning environments with structured, conceptual, and hands-on educational experiences that complement existing classroom instruction, Bring tangible, activity-based exploration directly to students who otherwise have limited access to hands-on STEM tools and experiences, Transform abstract concepts in science and mathematics into tangible, engaging learning experiences through thoughtfully designed do-it-yourself experiments and activity-based exploration, Integrate Innovation Labs within the existing RIC framework so that structured lecture-based conceptual delivery and experiential hands-on learning together create a balanced and holistic educational model, Pilot the Innovation Labs in approximately 100 schools currently associated with IIT Madras through the RIC network to enable structured rollout, monitoring, and refinement before potential scale-up
Description
- The proposed innovation labs will transform abstract concepts in science & mathematics into tangible, engaging learning experiences through thoughtfully designed DIY experiments and activity based exploration.

- Strengthen understanding of fundamental concepts in science and mathematics, Improve academic performance through experiential reinforcement, Build confidence and curiosity among rural students, Motivate students to pursue higher education and careers in STEM fields, Offer an engaging and practical extension of the learning journey for students already engaged in systematic online instruction, ensuring sustained interest and deeper educational outcomes, Each lab is designed to serve approximately 30 students per session across Classes 6 to 12, with kits and resources supporting over 100 hands-on activities, Strengthen STEM education for rural students and amplify the impact of the RIC network in a sustainable and scalable manner
