- Improve public literacy by conducting research, developing courses, offering workshops, and organizing conferences in four focus areas related to Indian Knowledge Systems, Train school and college teachers on the contributions of Indian thinkers and the Indic world-view, Directly introduce school and college students to various Indian Knowledge Systems, Disseminate research findings to the general public through recorded lectures, articles in popular publications, and social media
Description
- Addressing the framing of Indian culture and knowledge systems within Western categories, this IIT Madras initiative mainstreams authentic Indian perspectives across linguistics, mathematics, and music through research, course development, workshops, and conferences. By training school and college teachers on Indian thinkers and the Indic world-view, directly engaging students with Indian Knowledge Systems, and disseminating findings through recorded lectures, popular publications, and social media, the project enhances public literacy and builds long-term cultural understanding nationwide.
