Providing micro-gravity experiences to school students for capacity building in Space 2.0
Principal Investigator
Prof. Sathyan Subbiah
Objective
- Generate excitement and interest in Space 2.0 among school-going students in India, Provide students with a unique opportunity to feel space by experiencing micro-gravity during controlled freefall on parabolic flights, Encourage students to explore and consider careers in space-related fields, Enhance scientific education by involving students in the design and execution of simple experiments during parabolic flights
Description
- The project will identify 25 schools across India and assist each school in creating a micro-gravity setup with sensors and data measurement systems. These setups will be designed for air-worthiness and safety. Students, along with their setups, will participate in parabolic flights, during which they will perform experiments and collect data while experiencing micro-gravity. They will also write reports on their trip and experimental observations.
Impact
- 250 school students will gain firsthand experience of micro-gravity and develop an understanding of space, These students will design experimental setups suitable for conducting experiments in a plane safely, 250 students will be motivated to explore space-related careers, The project will contribute to scientific education and awareness among young minds
