Objective

• Develop a Virtual Reality (VR) laboratory application for teachers and school children, Create laboratory modules for CBSE syllabus (Std 6th - 10th) in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, Test the VR laboratory modules in corporation schools in Chennai, Make the VR-Lab modules available on different platforms, including Smartphones, WebXR, and Oculus, Establish specialty VR Laboratory spaces in selected schools, Benefit at least 1000 high school children in a few states initially, with the goal of scaling the initiative to other states

Description

• Project VELVI aims to address the lack of practical laboratory classes for school children during the pandemic by harnessing immersive technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) to enhance access to practical education, specifically laboratory exercises. The initiative will initially focus on private and corporation schools in Tamil Nadu and later expand to other states. The key components of the project include the development of a VR laboratory application for teachers and students, the creation of laboratory modules for various subjects, testing in corporation schools, and making the VR-Lab modules available on different platforms. Additionally, specialty VR Laboratory spaces will be established in selected schools.

Impact

• The project is expected to benefit at least 1000 high school children in selected states, It aims to improve the quality of education by providing immersive and interactive laboratory experiences, The initiative has the potential to change long-term learning methods for students, Successful implementation will lead to the scaling of the technology to other states in the country, Collaboration with government departments will ensure widespread adoption and impact
