Establishment of battery pack - state of health assessment equipment kit
Principal Investigator
Prof. Shankar Ram
Objective
- The proposal aims to establish a battery State of Health (SoH) assessment equipment kit using the direct assessment method of Ampere hour counting.
Description
- The transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs) is crucial for India's strategy to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy efficiency, decrease oil import dependency, and promote sustainable transportation, However, battery degradation is a common issue, affecting both capacity and power delivery capabilities over time, The State of Health (SoH) is a key metric for assessing battery performance. The proposal to establish Battery SoH Assessment equipment kit aims to evaluate the health of batteries that have completed their primary EV cycle.
Impact
- This initiative will support sustainability and circular economy practices in the Indian automotive and energy sectors, Key stakeholders such as battery pack owners, insurers, Finance investors, recycling companies, and vehicle manufacturers play essential roles in understanding, managing, and making informed decisions based on the battery's SoH.
