CO2 capture studies from flue gas stream through novel functionalized amine blends
Principal Investigator
Prof. Jitendra Sangwai
Objective
- The prime focus of the study would be to explore "functionalized amine blends solvent" in interfacial contact reactor and bubble column for CO2 capture.
Description
- To minimize the carbon emission in the atmosphere and become carbon neutral certain measures are being taken, for instance adsorption of carbon dioxide on various adsorbents, It was found that amine-based solvents are best suited CO2 capture strategy for low temperature flue gas exhaust conditions, This project is quintessential for carbon capture and utilization strategy, to make India carbon neutral by the year 2070 as pledged by honorable Prime minister, Shri. Narendra Modi in COP26.
Impact
- Determining the role of fluid characteristics of solvent in gas absorption process, The current functionalized amine blends project has the potential for commercialization at industry and societal levels, Identifying the underlying mechanism of CO2 capture, Identifying the role of nanotechnology and surface functionalization on gas absorption efficacy, Improved performance.
