Development of Hydrogen Fuel Cell based three-four wheeler Vehicles
Principal Investigator
Prof. Guhan
Objective
- To design, build, integrate, and validate a complete hydrogen fuel cell-based three/four (LCV)-wheeler electric vehicle.
Description
- Commercial three/four (LCV)-wheelers constitute one of the largest and most intensively utilized vehicle segments in India's mobility ecosystem. Hydrogen fuel cell-based electric powertrains offer a complementary zero-emission solution, enabling rapid refueling, extended range, and improved uptime while retaining the advantages of electric drivetrains. This proposal outlines a sponsored research and co-development project wherein IIT Madras will design, develop, integrate, and validate a complete hydrogen fuel cell-based engine fully.
Impact
- 1. Fully Integrated Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powertrain System. 2. Fuel Cell System (Stack + Balance of Plant). 3. Vehicle with Integrated Hydrogen Engine. 4. Test Reports and Performance Documentation. 5. Design Guidelines for Future Scale-up.
