Objective
- The main objective of this project is to design and develop an intelligent battery charger to reduce the charging time without affecting the life cycle of the battery regardless of the battery chemistries.
Description
- This project proposes an intelligent closed-loop-based fast-charging algorithm with shorter time frames, for instance, using instantaneous cell voltage and/or temperature to minimize the charging time further by dynamically changing the charging profile. The proposed algorithm will be agnostic to cell chemistry and minimize charging time at the nominal SoC ranges (20-80%). This algorithm will be integrated with the charger controller to refill the battery according to the modelled charging profile. The algorithm also communicates with BMS available in EV via the CCS2 communication protocol standards.
Impact
- Battery charging system with a reduction of charging time by 50%, Algorithm system and detailed software design document, IP strategies on adaptive charging and monitoring algorithms, Verification and validation report
