Objective
- In this project, we propose to develop the V2I and V2V mechanisms, technologies and the needed protocols, making use of the available technologies of Telecommunication Cellular networks and ad hoc network protocols.
Description
- Until recently vehicles relied mostly on the driver viewing the road conditions, traffic on the road, and signals from other vehicles (turn, brake), road intersections, and signages, Growing sensors in vehicles provide for data on traffic changes, vehicle behaviour and road condition changes, more reliably and with higher fidelity than just the view of the driver, Vehicles, road sensors, and traffic management systems sharing information with each other open up great possibilities for optimal traffic management, route and driving behaviour management. They can enable greatly assisted driving and eventually on to reliable autonomous driving.
Impact
- The project proposes to deliver a V2X communication module that can help the automotive industry develop applications that can improve fuel efficiency and reduce road accidents through better rule compliance and safety warnings and precautions. Driving can be made more easy, safe and less expensive (through fuel savings).
