Objective

  • Our aim is to support these women by identifying the trainees who have the potential to make it big and form a group of 3 to 4 to establish women-led group enterprises

Description

  • In our earlier initiative with a small yet very significant support from Socially Relevant and Innovative Project of IIT Madras, 75 motivated and passionate women across two rural areas of Tamil Nadu namely Keerambur Village, Namakkal and Kemmarampalayam Village, Karamadai Block, Coimbatore were successfully trained in masala making (30) and tailoring (45) on vocational training during January 2025 to April 2025 with the support of two implementation partners. Encouraged by their enthusiasm and skill uptake, the next logical step is to support them in forming micro-enterprises.

Impact

  • 6 functioning microenterprises with women co-owners, Stable monthly income (?5,000??8,000/member) within the few months of operation, Increased financial literacy and leadership among group members, Enhanced visibility for women's entrepreneurship in rural markets.
