Proposal on CO2 Direct Air Capture Modules to control environmental pollution in Delhi NCR
Principal Investigator
Prof. Rajnish Kumar
Objective
- This proposal offers the DAC system which employs solid sorbent materials, optimized for capturing CO2 from the ambient air in India's diverse climatic conditions.
Description
- Based upon the initial discussions and the requirements based upon the long-term goals and interests shown towards addressing the environmental issues which are also the prime focus areas under the UNSDG's sustainable goals leading to the better environment, health, climate and sustainability, This proposal briefly outlines the technical and commercial aspects of establishing CO2 Direct Air Capture (DAC) units developed as an outcome of CO2 capture oriented research and developments projects since year 2018, led by Prof. Rajnish Kumar at IIT Madras, India.
Impact
- The project offers a significant opportunity to reduce atmospheric CO2 levels, contribute to India's climate goals, and tap into emerging carbon markets by the deployment of the DAC units design and development by IITM team leading to the Startup, It is expected that proceeding with this project would achieve substantial environmental benefits and potential economic returns.
