Complex network approach to study extreme events in Indian Summer Monsoon

Complex network approach to study extreme events in Indian Summer Monsoon

Principal Investigator

Prof. Sujith

Objective

  • Understand Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) qualitatively and quantitatively. Predict atypical monsoons and obtain local and global precursors to extreme events related to ISM.

Description

  • Focus on establishing climate networks. Develop a predictive model for atypical India monsoon and ensure extreme weather phenomena using network analysis and obtain local and global precursors.

Impact

  • Better preparedness for natural calamities like cyclones, floods, etc. Planned sustainable development with increased effectiveness of agriculture. More patents and start-ups contributing to UN sustainable development goals. Work on predictions and management of anomalous rainfall will be socially impactful
