Principal Investigator
Prof. Indumathi Manivannan Nambi
Objective
- This proposal aims to validate a low-cost mobile-based soil testing kit that provides rapid, affordable, and accurate soil analysis.
Description
- India has approximately 93.09 million agricultural households. Around 70% of rural households primarily depend on agriculture for their livelihood. Agricultural productivity is significantly influenced by soil health. However, small and marginal farmers often lack access to affordable and timely soil analysis.
Impact
- Improved accessibility to affordable soil testing solutions, Reduction in farm input costs (fertilizers, water, etc.) due to precise soil health recommendations, Enhanced farm productivity and soil fertility through data-driven decision-making, Scalability potential for wider adoption in agricultural communities, Reduction in environmental pollution due to over use of fertilizer.
