Prognostics for kidney health : Design and Development of a smart, AI/ML driven, IoT based device
Principal Investigator
Prof. GL Samuel
Objective
- To develop a cost effective, non-invasive, portable, AI/ML-driven, IoT-based device, with a user-friendly, intuitive, visual interface, that can be used by anyone
Description
- Around 10 % of the Indian population suffers from chronic kidney disease (CKD) and every year, over one lakh cases of renal failure are reported., The symptoms of the onset of CKD are often difficult to detect. Few people undertake regular, routine check-ups. Therefore, a potential CKD case can go undetected until it is too late to take corrective action., The grant will help to develop a cost effective, non-invasive, portable, AI/ML-driven, IoT-based device, with a user-friendly, intuitive, visual interface, that can be used by anyone ? healthy persons, patients or care-givers. The device will be affordable, at an approximate cost of Rs 20,000/- each. (tentatively).
Impact
- Implementation of this device will provide improved health outcomes for individuals with CKD by early detection and prevention of disease as well as personalized healthcare facilities., It can be used to achieve remote monitoring and it can help to reduce the healthcare inequality.
