Objective
- The project aims to develop an AI-driven algorithm for mass screening of eye health using a low-cost smart-phone based mydriatic fundus imaging device. This involves generating large datasets, developing an edge AI pipeline for automatic eye condition detection, and deploying the technology for field screening.
Description
- Collaborating with hospitals to generate large datasets of fundus images., Developing a deep learning-based computer vision pipeline to distinguish healthy and unhealthy eyes., Creating an algorithm to classify unhealthy eye conditions (glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts)., Deploying the AI pipeline in collaboration with C3 MedTech Pvt Ltd for mass screening.
Impact
- With over 12 million blind people in India, this project addresses a critical need for early intervention in eye health. By leveraging AI and smartphones, it enables timely detection of eye conditions, reducing blindness rates in marginalized communities and rural areas.
