Medical Diagnostic Technician Skill Enhancement CSR Project

Concept Note on Skill Enhancement for medical diagnostic technicians

Concept Note on Skill Enhancement for medical diagnostic technicians

Principal Investigator

Prof. Madhulika Dixit

Objective

  • We propose a skill enhancement program for DMLT, nursing and other paramedical diploma students in our Lab at IIT Madras.

Description

  • Global medical diagnostic market stood at 235 billion US dollars in 2023, and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of around 3.5% between 2024 to 2030. In comparison, the Indian diagnostic market is experiencing 14% annual growth and will increase from its current state of 16.7 billion USD to about 30 billion USDs in next five years., Despite the promising exponential growth in medical diagnostics laboratory sector, it is currently facing a dearth of suitably trained DMLT (diploma and medical lab technology) manpower. It is imperative that present day lab technicians are not only trained in these techniques, but, are also capable of comfortably adapting to the fast-changing modern technologies such as PCR, ELISA and NGS.

Impact

  • We propose to train them in PCR and ELISA based techniques., We will also give them an over-view of how data analysis is done and what are the applicable regulatory guidelines.

Budget in Lakhs

126.00
