Objective

  • This project aims to create a comprehensive scholarly monograph detailing the physico-bio-chemical properties of selected Siddha and Ayurvedic medicines, particularly those containing metals. Using modern analytical techniques, it seeks to provide valuable information for quality control, standardization, and understanding the scientific basis of these alternative medicines. The monograph will cover about 50 Siddha and 25 Ayurvedic preparations, aiding the development of pharmacopeia standards and ensuring the safe and effective use of these traditional remedies.

Description

  • Analyze the physico-bio-chemical properties of selected Siddha and Ayurvedic medicines., Employ modern analytical techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, ICP, FTIR, NMR, HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, and more., Compile results into a scholarly monograph., Publish the monograph on an open-access public domain website., Focus on metal-based purpams, powders, lehyams, oils, and chooranams., Gather preliminary data from 35 Siddha bhaspams and 10 Ayurvedic lehyams., Facilitate the development of pharmacopeia standards for these medicines.

  • This project promises to greatly benefit the field of alternative medicine by offering essential scientific insights into the physico-bio-chemical properties of Siddha and Ayurvedic medicines. It will enhance the credibility and acceptance of these medicines among modern medical practitioners, traditional healers, and specialized libraries.
