Principal Investigator
Prof. V B Maji
Objective
- Investigate the behavior of shotcrete-rock interface under static loading in tunnel applications. Study the interaction between shotcrete liners and jointed rock masses under seismic/cyclic loading. Conduct numerical analysis to understand the behavior of jointed rocks and their interaction with shotcrete liners under static and dynamic loading.
Description
- 1. Investigate static and dynamic interactions between shotcrete liners and jointed rock in tunnels., 2. Conduct laboratory experiments and numerical analyses to quantify the behavior of these interactions., 3. Develop empirical models for shear behavior and apply findings to real-world tunnel designs., 4. Utilize a servo-hydraulic dynamic actuator for testing and data collection.
Impact
- By understanding how shotcrete liners interact with jointed rock masses under dynamic conditions, this project will enhance the reliability and effectiveness of tunnel support systems. The outcomes will contribute to safer tunnel construction and operation, potentially saving lives and infrastructure investments.
