Objective
- The aim of the cell is to build the human resources capacity required for installation, management and delivery of water and wastewater management services on a sustained basis, create infrastructure facilities for bench marking new water and wastewater technologies and conduct need-based research.
Description
- Appropriate water management is central to achieving many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations., It is in this context that we propose to set up a cell, under the aegis of AquaMAP: Center for Water Management and Policy at IIT Madras, to leverage the available expertise to help solve pressing water related problems (both quality and quantity issues) on a global scale. We propose to call this cell as "AquaMAP Outreach Cell: Training, Education and Technical Services for Water and Wastewater Management & WASH in Global South (AQUOC-TREATS)".

- Undertaking training of personnel and capacity building., Undertaking training programs on WASH (Water, sanitation and Hygiene), especially for rural and peri-urban areas in Global south., Evaluating and adapting novel technologies for water treatment, wastewater treatment and grey water management to ensure water quality., Formulate guidelines for water treatment, wastewater treatment, grey water management., Undertaking need-based research to develop new technologies and management practices., Providing technical services to the Governments, industry and utilities in the area of water and wastewater management, and WASH in Global South.
