Microdroplet-Based Technologies for Clean Water and PFAS Remediation

Microdroplet-based technologies for clean water

Microdroplet-based technologies for clean water

Principal Investigator

Prof. T Pradeep

Objective

  • Mastering the fundamental science of microdroplets' behaviour., Building new instruments to achieve the goal., Identifying the ideal conditions for the microdroplets to excite at the level of chemical bond cleavage.

Description

  • Conduct experiments to validate the effectiveness of the proposed microdroplet-based approach for degrading PFAS compounds., Identify optimal conditions for maximizing PFAS degradation while minimizing energy consumption and potential side reactions., Employ methods such as mass spectrometry and chromatography to identify and quantify the degradation products., Assess the environmental sustainability of the proposed PFAS remediation approach., Explore strategies for scaling up the microdroplet-based PFAS remediation process., Collaborate with industry partners to transfer the technology from the laboratory to practical applications.

Impact

  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at conferences to contribute to the scientific understanding of microdroplet chemistry and its applications in environmental remediation., Additionally, engage with stakeholders, policymakers, and the public through workshops, seminars, and media outreach to raise awareness about the potential of this innovative approach for addressing PFAS contamination.
