IIT Madras and Chevron Launch Energy Technology Incubation Program

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and Chevron Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center (ENGINE) have launched the Chevron-IITM Energy Technology Incubation Program to accelerate early-stage innovations in the energy sector. The joint initiative aims to support student teams, researchers, and social entrepreneurs developing solutions in technology-led energy systems, carbon utilization, circular economy, and resource efficiency.

Under the partnership, selected startups and researchers will leverage IIT Madras' incubation ecosystem for prototype validation, business model development, grants, and market readiness. Chevron will contribute technical mentorship, industry expertise, and employee volunteering as part of its 'Chevron UDAAN' community partnership portfolio.

Dr. Akshay Sahni, Country Head, Chevron India, highlighted that the program integrates India’s engineering talent with global resources to advance affordable and clean energy solutions. Prof. Ashwin Mahalingam, Dean (Alumni and Corporate Relations), IIT Madras, emphasized that the collaboration provides essential infrastructure and guidance to translate deep-tech energy concepts into scalable, real-world applications.
